Google TV Update About To Roll! Sony First (yay) Logitech Thereafter
Google TV Update About To Roll
/Sigh Google T.V. I have long been contemplating an AndroREV review of the system that attempted to change how we view television. The system that most folks consider a huge failure. Well call me a televangelist , a Google Televangelist to be exact. No I’m not about to get my Benny Hinn on but I would like to lay hands on a few people lol. All jokes aside we have been waiting a long time for the Honeycomb update to Google T.V. and it turns out it’s coming to the Sony Models first and as you can see by the photos below that’s exactly what were working with here at AndroREV.
The Update has been talked about for months with even a few Google T.V. specific apps popping up in the market. So what’s the buzz all about? What is the actual bleeping meaning? Here are the details:
- New interface! The home screen is now customizable folks the picture above is of the current Google TV (2.1) Home Screen. New All Apps feature will allow you to see every app you have in a simple intuitive much more concise way
- Search is better: I kind of use the “What’s On” feature of Google T.V. all the time which basically list the things that are on in specific genres say “Drama” for example. The new “TV & Movies” is a new app that allows you to browse through thousands (80 thousand to be exact) across Cable, satellite, Netfllix good ole YouTube etc. etc. It allows you to opt in for recommendations and they can send you those based on what you watch ala Netflix.

- YouTube on the Boob Tube: Ok so YouTube lean back is one of my favorite things about Google TV. You hit a video and Google TV just finds and plays related videos until you say uncle. They made the search feature better period allowing you to find the stuff you want to watch and there is a lot of junk on YouTube of course you already know this.

- Apps dude: Nuff said
