Dolphin Refutes Claims Of Privacy Violation, FUD Prevails
Oh boy. To think when we came out with the HTC logging story and then some guy put it up on XDA they accused us of FUD. Of course the story ends with the famous motto of Rodney Dangerfield of course those same dudes jumped on the story a couple weeks later (as long with the rest of the major sites) and we were left the little android blog that could. No Respect I tell Ya! Well here lately MoboTap developers of the wildly popular Dolphin Browser was accused of storing users browsing history and sending to a URL. Of course the community pounced accusing Dolphin of putting our browsing sessions at risk. It seems to have been missed because the story of Dolphin’s response would be far less sensational right? You can find Dolphin’s response HERE. Dolphin never stored users browsing sessions on their servers and removed the feature from the browswer yesterday as it is ”non-critical” to the function of the browser itself. Not that the feature was not problematic far be it from me to make that claim. I just think the FUD that was spread was wild and the insinuation was that like HTC, MobileTap was after information on it’s users. That my friends is not the case. I think MobileTap should be credited with moving quickly (the next day) to insure it’s users felt secure. So MobileTap gets a plus one from Androidian Revolution and while were on the subject of freedom. How bout the FUD guys loosen their grip on the community a bit. It’s like the NBA lockout guys. Millionaires arguing with Billionaires and the Dev’s are just following the pied piper. The Pied Piper however, leaves them outside while he goes in the bank.
