Back To Eden: Notion Ink Announces Adam II
Back when I was trying to determine what the purpose would be (find a valid excuse) to spend big bucks on an Android tablet the Notion Ink Adam came along with it’s awesome GUI and suddenly the tablet world had my attention. The original Adam, as cool as it is can’t exaclty be called a phenomenal success in fact the launch was plagued with a few issues including lucky pre-orderers taking the tab out of the box to find an update that promptly borked the tablet. Well Notion Ink swiftly got it together and made the news recently by showing off their ICS Alpha for the Adam.
This time around Notion Ink is partnering with Texas Instruments and yes we love TI here, (full disclosure one of our consultants is a TI employee) I’ve said it a few times TI is the future when it comes to the processors and other stuff that will be powering our mobile tech going forward and Notion Ink seems to agree. Adam II will be using the Texas Instruments OMAP 44xx processor. Not only that other TI components will make there way into the Notion Ink Adam II including but not limited to Wi-Link 7.0 and Phoenix Audio Power Amplifiers. To say the OMAP 44xx is feature rich is an understatement. Programmable Accelerators , dedicated ISP, and hardware composition engines will be paired with Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX5xx GPU. Apparently speed for multitasking and amazing HD imagery are a priority for Notion Ink with the Adam II.
There’s more. Notion Ink will be releasing the world’s first “Modular Based Software Architecture” allowing for drag and drop application modification, a blessing for up and coming developers like myself and veritable pros alike. These tools are targeted at non programmers however making it a device that say a person in the medical field could easily make apps that make their lives and jobs easier on the fly. For more information on Texas Instruments processors you can head here and of course you can follow the Notion Ink blog for updates on the Adam II. Excited much… yeah.
