Toshiba Excite 10 LE Tabled Looks To Compete With iPad3!!!
So I am sure that by now you all know that Apple has a press release planned for March 7th where the newest iPad will be released to choruses of fapping from Apple fanboys. Toshiba is attempting to steal some thunder from this announcement by releasing its new tablet the day before on March 6th. Now if you are going to compete with the world’s most popular tablet with only a 1 day headstart you need to bring your A game right? How about being the thinnest (7.7mm) and lightest (535g) tablet currently out right now? So lets take a look at what else the 10 LE brings to the table.
The Excite 10 LE features a 10.1″ Autobrite IPS display covered with Gorilla Glass. The display features 10 finger multi-touch capability and a resolution of 1280×800. Inside you will find a dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 processor running at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, and the option for 16GB or 32GB of storage. Around the sides you will find a Mini HDMI port, a Micro SD slot, and stereo speakers. Around back will be a 5MP camera with LED flash combined with a 2MP front facer. There are the usual gyroscope, accelerometer, GPS, and WiFi. The tablet will ship with Android 3.2 Honeycomb but will be shortly upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS very soon. The tablet is also coated with something that EVERY tablet should have, an anti-smudge coating to keep your grubby fingerprints from messing it up. The Excite will set you back $529 for the 16GB version and $599 for the 32GB version.
Now these specs are very nice but they are not mind-blowing in the days of quad-core tablets. The Excite also does not come with Android 4.0 however it you want a very thin, light, well made tablet, the Excite may be right up your alley! Time will tell if a one day head start will be enough for this tablet to make it but if they are going to take on the iPad they may need more than Honeycomb…..
