Lenovo’s Intel Medfield Powered K800 Gets Benchmarked!!!

We have known about Intel’s Medfield chip for a while now.  The single core ATOM chip is clocked at 1.6GHz and before you write off this processor for its single core you should have a look at these benchmarks.  I know how must people feel about these tests however it is a good way to take a look at the processor before it is released.  The recently unveiled Orange Santa Clara phone will be one of the phones rocking this chip and recent benchmarks showed it beating the iPhone4S’s dual core ARM processor using Browsermark testing tool.  The chip will also be in Lenovo’s new phone and Engadget got it’s hands on some more benchmarks for this phone.

I was expecting these results to be a little better than the Santa Clara(which is on Android 2.3 Gingerbread) since the K800 will be running the much more efficient Android 4.0 ICS and I was not disappointed.  The single core processor gets some pretty good scores, pulling a 3850 on Quadrant but the big news is the Sunspider 0.91 Javascript test. Here the Intel ATOM chip beat both the HTC One X and the One S! I know that this may not be a good implication of real life performance, yadda yadda yadda.  However it will be very interesting to see if this chip lives up to expectations of performance and battery life.  Until then, have a look at these benchmarks!
