Samsung Declares Pricing And Release Dates For Galaxy Tab 2!!!!
I think even the most hardened Android fan has to admit that Apple’s iPad was the tablet that started it all. Ever since then Android has been attempting to catch up and while some tablets have been quite good, the market has become quite saturated with alot of low-end tablets. But here is where Android can overtake Apple, if a manufacturer can release tablets with quality software and hardware at a price point that beats the iPad then we will see Android tablets grow by leaps and bounds. It looks like Samsung is planning on doing just this with their new line of Galaxy Tabs. Dubbed the Galaxy Tab 2 the tablet will come in both 10″ and 7″ flavors.
Let’s take a look at the 7″ tablet first. This one will be up for pre-order today and go on sale this Sunday, the 15th. The 7.0 tablet will be $250 for the 8GB version while the 16GB tab will cost a little more. The 7.o features a 1024×600 TFT display, runs Android 4.0 ICS, a 1.0 dual-core processor, and 1GB of RAM. The 10.1″ size will follow-up by releasing on May 13th, with preorders starting May 4th, and will come in multiple flavors, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB as well. It will feature a 10.1″ 1280×800 display, Android 4.0, a TI OMAP 1.0 dual-core processor, a 3MP rear facing camera with a VGA front facing unit, and the 16GB version will set you back $450.
Both versions will use the Smart Remote app by Peel to function as Infrared remotes and just like HTC Sammy has been talking to Dropbox. This popular service will offer a whopping 50GB of cloud storage to any new Galaxy Tab 2 owner but only for the first year the tabs are out. I know some of you may be disappointed by the processor in the Tabs not being some quad-core monster but Samsung is looking at the big picture here and trying to beat both Apple’s price point and the performance of the new upstart, Amazon’s Kindle Fire. So what do you guys think, will you be buying one of these new tabs??
