JKeene-Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III First Impressions
Today I received my brand spanking new Samsung flagship phone, the Galaxy S 3. The phone comes in an rather unassuming white box with black lettering announcing what beast is within. I am not one of those people who gets salty when they don’t send it in a pretty box, since I will just put it away. Inside you will find the phone, manual, USB cord, wall plug, and an actual decent set of headphones with different covers to fit your ears. Taking the phone out the first thing I noticed of course was that it is typical Samsung plastic construction. I will be the first one to say this does NOT bother me at all. The phone is absolutely creak free and feels very solidly built. It is light in the hand and almost exactly the same size as my Galaxy Nexus. The phone is ringed in a very attractive chrome finish that really classes up the look of the phone. The right side of the phone has the power button, on the opposite side is the volume rocker which engages with a very satisfying click. On the bottom is simply the charging port while the top has the headphone jack.
Removing the battery cover, (yes it is plastic but the white color really hides any fingerprints and you are going to be putting a case on anyway right??) shows a slot for the SIM card, micro SD( i def missed this on my GNex since I filled up all but 2 GBs on that phone) and the rather large 2,100mAh battery. The screen is gorgeous and before we even talk about Super LCD vs Super AMOLED trust me this screen will not disappoint you. This phone comes with the Snapdragon S4 “Krait” processor and initial impressions are that I cannot do anything to bog this phone down. I had live wallpaper running, multiple windows open, YouTube going and the phone still did not miss a beat!! So to anyone holding concerns about the power of the dual-core S4 vs the quad-core Exynos processor, the S4 will do nothing but impress you!! So give me a couple days to put the phone through it’s paces and I will have a full review up for you guys!
