Hey Verizon Galaxy Nexus Owners, Google Wallet Now Works On Your Device, No Hackery Required!!

If you own a Galaxy Nexus LTE then you are well aware of the Google Wallet Situation on Verizon.  Google Wallet is of course, Google’s NFC payment system that came already installed on most Galaxy Nexus devices and ready to pay for your goods.  If you are on Verizon’s service however you probably noticed that you do not have Google Wallet anywhere.  This is because Verizon put the kibosh on Wallet in favor of building and encouraging its own NFC payment system called ISIS.

Engadget is reporting some big news today if you have not already rooted and installed Google Wallet yourself. It seems that not even Verizon can hold down Google forever as today Galaxy Nexus LTE owners who have not rooted can head right on over to the Play Store and download the app right now.  Engadget has tested this one and sure enough it works. No official world has come down from Verizon but if you want to fire up that NFC chip it looks like the floodgates have opened!!
