IFA: Sony New Xperia Tablet S, The Next Generation Sony Tablet

Sony had a really big day today and taking a look at what they are doing as a whole we are seeing an extremely agile and more open Sony. One that has taken many parts and unified them and one that has placed a serious amount of their resources into the Android platform. I’ve said it many times Sony makes some of the best hardware paired with user experience around and that trend is going to continue into their next generation Android hardware. Under Kaz Harai’s leadership Sony is steamrolling toward a unified platform under the Sony brand. One with Android and PlayStation at the forefront. Anyhow they showed off the Sony Xperia Tablet S and though it is every similar in naming convention to the Sony Tablet S this is a very different beast.

The Sony Xperia Tablet S has a similar folded magazine design we have seen in the past with a Tegra 3 CPU and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The remote control features of the original Tablet S have been greatly expanded here turning on a plethora of devices regardless of manufacturer. The display is a  9.7-inch OptiContrast Panel with an anti-fingerprint coating the tablet will also feature software enhancements like: S-Force Front Surround, Clear Phase and the xLoud as well as Sony’s Sony’s Quick Touch and Quick View technologies.
