Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is Official
So you may have heard about the lawsuits and etc flying but I must say it’s good to get back to good old device launches and spec sheet comparisons etc. With that today’s IFA and Unpacked event’s there are a few new devices to get you salivating. One of those is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Of course the Note 2 is the successor to last years very successful Samsung Galaxy Note and it is definitely an improvement over the older model. It sprots a chasis that is only 9.4 mm thick. A 5.5 inch HD Super Amoled (gone is the pentile matrix hello RGB) all striking a stong resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy S 3 which is not all together bad if you like that sort of thing. Here is a comprehensive list of the specs for this bad boy.
- 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio
- Size: 80 x 151.1 x 9.4mm thin – thinner than its predecessor
- Weight: 180 grams
- 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 16/32/64GB on-board memory
- microSDHC support of up to 64GB of additional storage
- 8-megapixel rear-camera with Auto Focus, LED flash and HD video recording
- 2-megapixel front-facing camera
- HSPA+ support
- 4G LTE connectivity (in selected markets)
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
- Wi-Fi Direct
- USB 2.0 support
- A-GPS and Glonass support
- 3,100mAh removable battery with faster charging – bigger capacity than its predecessor
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board out of the box with TouchWiz UI on top
- Redesigned S-Pen: wider and longer to offer better grip. The stylus now has a rubber tip to offer an experience more similar to pen and paper
- Colors: Marble White and Titanium Grey
One cannot discuss the Note without taking about the S-Pen stylus. Along with Jellybean come a ton of upgrades to the software behind the stylus functionality including Quick Command, which allows you to perform actions right from the stylus and Air View which shows previews etc when hovering over objects. Tons of photo editing and other tools have been designed to make use of the new and improved S-Pen and now you can slide the pen right into the body of the phone (which alerts you when it’s removed…very cool!) The links to the Samsung Galaxy S 3 do not stop with the design of the phone as a lot of the software perks that came packed with the Galaxy S 3 will be in the Samsung’s second generation phablet as well.
Who’s excited about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? I’ve already got a ton of reaction about the anticipation for this device. Sound off in the comments. Additional press images below.
