Samsung Takes The Wraps Off The Galaxy Camera, 16MP Lens And Android 4.1 On Board!!

We have seen Android powered cameras before, Nikon as already been down this road. However this is the first Android camera made by Samsung and packing these specs.  Well let’s get those specs out-of-the-way first,

  • 23mm f/2.8 lens with 21x optical zoom
  • 4.7″ HD Super Clear Touch Display at 308ppi
  • ISO from 100 up to 3200
  • 3G and 4G connectivity
  • An impressive 1.4GHz Quad-core processor
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 8GB onboard storage, expandable via microSD
  • HDMI 1.4 out
  • A-GPS
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
  • 1650mAh battery

Those would be pretty good specs on an Android phone, much less a camera with a lens like that! I have had a fair amount of point and shoot cameras including a Sammy with a touchscreen but it was only half the size of this 4.7″ unit.  Although the camera uses Jellybean it has a lot of Samsung extras to make your pictures look great.  Pro Mode will give you options to take great shots in certain conditions, from light capture mode for low light situations to fast shoot for getting those pictures of your kids who won’t stop running around.  All of these pictures that you take will be uploaded wirelessly to the cloud so even if you lose your camera you will not lose your pics, in addition to the WiFi, the camera also has both 3G/4G radios on board to allow you to share your pictures to multiple social media sites right from the device.  One of my favorite features is the remote viewfinder, with this you can set the camera down and see what the camera lens sees on your smart phones screen! That way you can line up the shot from the palm of your hand! Don’t forget the HD video capabilities and you have a very capable camera that allows you to not only take great pictures but quickly share them as well!
