Are We Looking At The New Kindle Fire??!!
For weeks the rumors have been flying around about Amazon being hard at work on the successor to the Kindle Fire. If you have not seen the Fire, it is a 7″ tablet running a heavily skinned version of Android with a great price point of $200. Amazon has sold about a bazillion of them and is looking to duplicate the success of the Fire with its replacement. Today they announced that they are totally sold out of the Fire which lines them up rather nicely for Amazon’s mystery announcement next week. With both a 7″ and 10″ tablet being spoken of they should have plenty to talk about, the next Fire will have to keep ahead of Google’s hot selling Nexus 7, also a 7″ tablet selling at around $200.
It looks like the Verge has gotten their hands on a leaked image of the new Fire(although a source has come forward and claimed this is not the real Fire 2, something the Verge is refuting) and from the picture you can tell that a front camera has been added and as expected the device is heavily skinned by Amazon. The 7″ version is sure to stick around the same price, the real question is, if a 10″ tablet is announced, how cheap can Amazon afford to sell it for? The Nexus 7 has finally given Amazon some competition in the 7″ tablet category and I for one am very interested to see what they come up with!
